Teamwork makes the dream work!

A VA Caregiver support coordinator recently referred a family of 5 to us including a veteran, his care-giving wife, and 3 children “in desperate need of support and community agencies to embrace them and help get them on track.” The veteran has deployed to both Afghanistan and Iraq, and was medically retired from the Army after being diagnosed with PTSD, TBI, and enduring a gastrogogectomy.

After a mix up with benefits, the family found themselves struggling to make ends meet. Our Family Support Coordinator got right to work, and send a gift card from our Unmet Needs Fund to cover immediate expenses. She has continued to work to correct the family’s benefits, and in the meantime was able to make a connection to our friends at Boot Campaign

Established in 2009, the Boot Campaign is a national 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to promoting patriotism for America and the military community; raising awareness of the unique challenges service members face during and post-service; and providing assistance to military personnel, past and present, and their families. Boot Campaign is helping this family find a more sustainable living situation to ensure they will be in the best possible place for years to come. Our thanks to our friends for helping us serve wounded veteran families – we love working together to find solutions.
